Chewing gum consumption and production have grown into a very large industry. Although many different types of gum are produced, the raw material (gum mass) and gum base remain the same.
Gum base is the substance that gives chewing gum its “chewiness” and consists of elastomers, resins, oils and emulsifiers. Combining these ingredients, gum base is known as the most important raw material in chewing gum production. A gum's texture, chewing and bubble-blowing properties depend on the gum base and directly on the quality of the raw materials used.
The two most important resin types used in gum base production are rosin ester (glycerol ester) and hydrogenated rosin esters. The rosin esters in gum base have two basic functions: first, they act as masticatory agents, and second, they serve as binding agents between elastomers and fillers.
Our rosin esters, also known as food-grade esters, are as follows
RESIESTER GUM A is a glycerol ester obtained through the deodorization of gum rosin.
Our RESIESTER GUM A is specially manufactured for use in the processing and formulation of various natural and synthetic products such as chewing gum base, beverage concentrates, adhesives, inks and protective coating compositions. Resiester 90 is manufactured in compliance with the Food Chemicals Codex. It holds Kosher certification.
RESIESTER GUM A is soluble in aliphatic, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, esters and higher alcohols. It is insoluble in water.
RESIESTER GUM DA is a glycerol ester obtained through the polymerization and deodorization of gum rosin.
RESIESTER GUM DA is specially manufactured for use in the processing and formulation of various natural and synthetic products such as chewing gum base, beverage concentrates, adhesives, inks and protective coating compositions. Resiester 90 is manufactured in compliance with the Food Chemicals Codex.
RESIESTER GUM DA is soluble in aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, esters and higher alcohols. It is partially soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons. It is insoluble in water.
